Although i can't imagine them releasing an El Capitain driver but not a Yosimite driver.ДЄlso they said that the Onyx 1640i works fine with Mavericks, but the driver only 'officially' supports up to 10.8. I should ask if there is a El Capitain driver on the horizon. They said there is no ETA for a Yosemite driver. After I executed this 'sudo.' and rebooted, it became visible and working.I see. So I installed it before execution of the command - it was still not visible by Onyx-i Control program installed together with the driver.

I freshly reinstalled Yosemite with full system disk erase and actually I didn't even try to run Onyx as core audio afterwards, I just assumed it requires the driver because of 204. Anyway, in this 10.11.1 version my 1220i still doesn't work, so Yosemite with the 'sudo nvram.' command seems to be the highest possible OS X option now. And at the end somebody has found that in the new beta version of El Capitan (10.11.1), it's working again with the previous driver Which means that probably there was some problem or bug in Apple's core audio. A lot of people started to complain about it in Line6 forums, requesting the new driver ASAP, saying that there has been plenty of time with beta version to prepare it etc. On the other hand - I was also using the Line6 UX1 device and after upgrading to El Capitan it didn't work anymore. support from Mackie seems to be really poor.

Then I found this thread and I just gave it a try - downgraded to Yosemite, installed the driver and used the command mentioned above. And of course - it didn't work, neither as core audio, nor with the driver from Mackie. I had already El Capitan installed on my late 2009 iMac.

I recently bought 1220i with serial starting from 204. I am wondering if anyone with a Mackie Onyx-i with serials starting with 204 has had any luck? Preferably without using the dev-mod command.?Hello. It could be worse, we could have Onyx 1200F's, I'm pretty sure they stopped supporting those before they even came out. I must be crazy because I would think after all that design and R&D work you would want to make stuff work with the current OS. I guess screwing your customers over makes you more money than supporting your products these days. I don't know what the hell their problem is. You know customers those of us that spend our hard earned money to buy products.This sounds about right. It's time for Mackie to step up for your customer base. Maybe Mackie should check out LL Bean's when it comes to customer satisfaction as you can return anything and get it replaced at LL Bean on the spot no matter the age or condition. Which I must say seems crazy how much could Apple be charging for approval of drivers? Even if it was $25,000.00 it would seem like a small price to pay to keep customers happy.

I called Mackie Tech support, and they stated more or less they don't want to pay Apple to approve the drivers for Yosemite. Mackie is currently blowing great opportunity because they are not willing or able to communicate with their customers honestly. Worth buying another brand, watch them get stronger and hope they do the right thing. Any manufacturer that does that is not a good, dependable manufacturer. I feel for people that get stuck this way and have to wind back their software. That is why Beta software is released first so there is development time to get hardware drivers in synch. This boot-up work around sounds like it would do the trick, but what happens the next time an operating system or the studio software you use updates and the driver needs tweaking? Hardware manufacturers cannot lag behind with driver updates. In my correspondence with Mackie, they will not commit to even correcting this problem, especially if you purchased a machine with the wrong serial number. I waited so long for Mackie to solve this, I am now stuck with a brand new worthless board. Decided to sell it at a loss rather than have one new piece of hardware restrict my software selection.
